Nursing Assistant Training

Description:
The Crescent Facility Training Center provides a course designed to prepare the students to take the State of California Certified Nursing Assistant Board Examination. Graduates who successfully complete that examination are certified to work as a Nursing Assistant in any California skilled nursing facility, hospice, or hospital.

NURSING ASSISTANT THEORY
The course provides basic skills required of the nurse assistant employed in skilled nursing facilities and extended care facilities. The course emphasizes care of the older adult client and assistance with their activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, exercise movement, eating and eliminating; safety measures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rehabilitation techniques are also covered. This course meets the requirements set forth by the State Department of Health Services Nurse Assistant Certification.

NURSING ASSISTANT CLINICAL
This course provides clinical practice of basic nursing skills required of nursing assistants. Students will practice skills in lab and then will be assigned to assist residents in skilled nursing facilities. Activities of daily living and rehabilitation procedures will be emphasized. Meets the requirements set forth by the State Department of Health Services Nurse Assistant Certification. Supervised clinical hours will be between 6:00a.m and 8:00p.m.

Program Format:
The course consists of an approved syllabus covering 53 hours of classroom instruction and 103 hours of supervised clinical practice in an approved skilled nursing facility.

Attire:
Scrubs are the appropriate attire with comfortable, clean shoes.

Miscellaneous Information:
The ratio of instructor to student for the clinical training will not exceed a ratio of one (1) instructor to fifteen (15) students. Successful completion of both the above meets the eligibility requirements of the State Department of Health Services to take the Nursing Assistant Certification Examination.
